Being a Children’s book illustrator is not easy. It’s an incredibly competitive market and full of people trying to create the next Gruffalo, Peppa Pig or Ben and Holly.
That’s why it’s so refreshing to see someone like Portland based Children’s book illustrator Meg Hunt come along. Describing herself as an illustrator, educator and maker of things, Meg describes her goal as:
To fill the world with my creations, and make people happy in the process.
And it’s safe to say she’s firmly on track!
Children’s book illustrator Meg released her own book in 2015 called Interstellar Cinderella in 2015, and as a result received a Gold Medal from the Society of Illustrators for Illustrators 58 (Uncommissioned category)
Meg goes on to describe her work further by saying:
My focus is creating charming and colorful character-based illustrations, lettering and patterns for editorial/publishing/product markets. But I always want to explore and try new things– product design, gift cards, animations, childrens’ books, stationery, textiles and oh, all sorts of things!
And we think that definitely shows in Meg’s work!
Some examples are below, enjoy!
